The dogs you can find below are dogs with a "backpack," as it is called. They carry insecurity with them. The reasons for this vary; unfortunately, they cannot tell you what they have been through. Such dogs need a special place with experienced people who know how to read body language and how to handle it in the right way. Consequently, Dunky is still somewhat reserved towards people he doesn't know; time, love, and patience are incredibly important to him so that he can develop step by step. We are therefore looking for a home for him with people who no longer have small children, as that might be too overwhelming/intimidating for him. Dunky simply needs a quiet, loving home where he is given the time to come out of his shell at his own pace. He has no problems with other dogs; he lives with them now. Incidentally, it is not even a bad thing if there is already a stable dog present, as he can look up to them and they can follow his example, but this is certainly not a requirement. Who wants to welcome this handsome boy into their heart and home? We are keeping our fingers crossed for this handsome boy! ANGEL has been in the shelter for over 4 years. Before that—who knows how long she was a stray?! It took a long time to get close to her because she was so scared!! She sat in her cage almost all the time, only sticking her head out when she heard someone approaching... Now she comes to get a treat from her caregivers, but she still doesn't have full trust, which is why she needs a safe and warm home, peace and love, which would chase away all her fears... ANGEL is a medium-sized girl, born estimated in May 2014. Look at her orange coat, a beautiful color, rarely seen! She is very well-behaved, calm, and gets along well with the other dogs she lives with in the kennel. We can imagine how much she would love to run freely through a large garden! She has been confined to her kennel for quite some time. This beautiful girl likely had a painful past; let's offer her the future she deserves, together with a loving family!! MITSY

Mitsy, just three years old, was rescued from a public shelter/killing station in 2021. Since then, he has been staying in a small private shelter, albeit in a kennel. This sweetie was incredibly anxious. In the meantime, he has become accustomed to normal life in the shelter, together with the other dogs and the caregivers around him. Mitsy has always remained somewhat timid, although when he is with people he knows well, he can also enjoy attention. He deserves to have a "real" home, but that is only possible with people who have sufficient experience to provide the right guidance for a dog like Mitsy, who has a history of issues. His chances are very low; it is like searching for a needle in a haystack. But in any case, it is worth trying to find one. Who knows, perhaps a suitable owner will be found for him after all, and he will get the chance to enjoy life and gently blossom at his own pace, under good guidance. We are therefore looking for a suitable family for him, naturally without small children, in a quiet environment (there would be too much stimulation for him in an overly busy setting). MOON * ADOPTED *

This sweet little girl, her name is Moon, was rescued from a public shelter/killing station. Little Moon is a real heartbreaker; with her beautiful face and sweet eyes, she can win your heart in no time! However, a very special family is being sought for her, and we would like to explain. She is a girl of 3 or 4 years old, small in size (shoulder height 30/35 cm, can be measured). Moon was rescued by kind people who wanted to give her a chance to get out of that incredibly awful shelter. She must have been treated terribly in the shelter, because this sweet little mouse is truly a "backpack dog," as they call it. Most of all, she loves lying comfortably on her soft cushion; she enjoys that immensely. In the beginning, she was welcomed into the pack with the other dogs; she was played with, and she really liked that. But for a while now, she has been ostracized by the others; the other ladies started snapping at her to make it clear to Moontje that she is at the bottom of the pack hierarchy, and given her sensitive nature, she has shut down as a result. Now, she would prefer not to get off her cushion at all, because she knows she is not welcome with the other dogs, not even when they are romping in the garden. It is incredibly sad for her, but it is impossible to force the others to treat her as an equal. We are looking for people for her who want to understand her, who can give her the peace and warmth she longs for so much. A place where she can be completely herself, where she can blossom step by step. Moontje doesn't want petting or being picked up yet; she wants so badly to be accepted just as she is, a little mouse who wants to be able to empty her backpack step by step at her own pace... Who would be willing to give her that chance? A small garden is very important to her so she can relieve herself there, as walking is really not an option for her yet. We are looking for calm people for her, true animal lovers through and through, who care about her and are willing to give her all the time she needs. She likes other dogs and enjoys playing. But no Alpha females or packs containing Alpha female(s). A gentle, stable male or a submissive female (just like her, so she cannot be dominated) of her own size would certainly work. Or people who have plenty of time for her, to be near her so she feels supported in life. Quiet, sweet people; no small, boisterous children, as that would make her anxious and unable to find peace (grandchildren are not a problem; when they come to visit, she can, for example, stay quietly in her own safe spot). It is a bit like searching for a needle in a haystack, but surely there must be someone out there who can give her little, frightened heart enough love to start enjoying life a bit more.
